Christmas Home Tour 2013

Welcome to our home! I’m so happy to invite you in and hope you enjoy your visit.

Any visit to our home definitely includes a friendly greeting from our goldendoodle Tucker, unless your a delivery man! So I’d be remiss if I didn’t start off the tour this way. 😉

Be sure to visit the other homes in the Holiday Housewalk 2013 Linky Party hosted by Jennifer Rizzo.

As you first walk in, the entry table vignette features the preserved boxwood wreath I made this year.

What a fun, inexpensive project. If you’ve got a boxwood in your yard, or your neighbor’s yard, you’ll want to check out this step by step tutorial.

The dinning room is right off the entry.

The biggest change in the holiday decor this year is the removal of red in the living room. It’s a reflection of the new direction the room took recently.

I’ve always loved the gold and silver combination, but this year’s addition of fresh greenery reminds the smell of Christmas when I was growing up and makes me smile. I especially like that the truly natural elements were free!

The little touches of either the boxwood I preserved or free tree cuttings from Lowe’s scattered throughout the house, bring a freshness I had been missing in years past.

Watch out! I’ve got my very own photo bomber. Do you think maybe I take too many photos of this dog? I pull out the tripod and this was what happens.

Sorry about that, I couldn’t resist sharing. He’s just too cute. Back to the tour.

We have always had a very traditional tree featuring memorable ornaments we’ve hand selected over the years especially our treasured photo ornaments.

Every year we have added new ornaments with the children’s photos. In addition, I used to take them to the local Hallmark store and let them pick out a meaningful ornament each year. We have amassed quite collection given that they are now teenagers.

In addition to the burlap ribbon and dried hydrangeas, I added a chalkboard banner this year. Read more about the tree here.

I love that it’s a visual reminder of the true meaning for this holiday. Our Savior brought the greatest joy into our world for each and every one of us.

I also like that the banner creates a link to the mantle chalkboard art too.

I featured “O’ Holy Night” in my hand drawn version of the chalkboard last year, but this year I created a fresh new version that is available for a free download here.

I made new stockings this year out of a thrift store sweater and a little bit of fur.

These cloches make a nice wintery collection on the ottoman in the center of the room.

We hang our Christmas cards here each year, but updated it this year with more boxwood. Right now, it features a few old photographs with Santa.

Just a few touches of cheer in the kitchen with red making a come back. I really do love red for the holidays.

Another bit of free greenery above the sink. More free tree trimmings from Lowe’s made into a double swag.

Our media room will have a completely different feel. Come back later in the week to get a mini tour!

Thank you so much for taking the Christmas tour. I hope you come again. As you can well imagine, I have a few more tutorials up my sleeve this Christmas. I’d love to have you follow me on Google, Facebook or subscribe via email, see the bar on the right.

Your house is beautiful, but Tucker stole the show.

We have a little 6 month old goldendoodle, Little Lulu, who would love to play with Tucker. She has the signs of looking much like Tucker in size and height, but she is black.
